A Castle / Slotted nuts has a series of slots on one end and is held in place with a pin.
Castle / Slotted nuts are used in applications where vibration or motion could undo the nut.
A Castle / Slotted nut allows insertion of a cotter pin to prevent rotation & is generally manufactured from steel.
